For seasons, these elements have remained latent in the Clans of old -- ThunderClan, WindClan, RiverClan, and ShadowClan. For those long seasons, the elements remained pure of blood, but no cat knew they had these powers. None of them ever figured it out, until they died out and new Clans were started over once again.
This new generation of Clans dubbed themselves SmokeClan, LeafClan, MirageClan, and ZephyrClan, and in their beginning days, they too were oblivious to their power.
It all started with one apprentice who discovered his power. Soon, other cats tried to see if they did too. It didn't take long before the whole forest found out that they were, in a way, special. They lived in peace, with only border skirmishes and kit disputes.
However, some cats began to grow power-hungry. A few cats are willing to stab their clan-mates in the back to get what they want, and they'll use their powers to do so.
Who are these cats? They are cats who uplift some powers and scorn others. They want to rid the world of the powers they find "weaker" or "less important", and fill the world with the more "powerful" and "useful" powers. How do they do this? They kill the cats with the scorned powers. They trick the cats with the uplifted power into joining them...and kill them if they don't join.
Now, this, this is bad enough. It's enough of a reason for the other cats of the forest to rebel, right? The leaders don't want their warriors becoming traitors or being murdered. But something worse comes along...something much worse.
These new cats pair up. Not only do they pair up, but they pair up with cats of opposite powers. What happens when a kit is born from parents of opposite powers? A cat from SmokeClan and a cat from MirageClan? Or a cat from LeafClan and a cat from ZephyrClan? The kits die. Every one of them. Within moons of their birth. Some make it to six moons old, others die at birth.
But do these cats care? No. They keep trying. They keep going. Birthing litter after litter of kits who die within moons. All these deaths, as well as the deaths of full-grown Clan cats...it is too much. The forest cats have to stop it. Meanwhile, the others keep trying. And one day...one day, they might succeed. The litter might survive, and the resulting kits might have the powers of two Clans within their bodies. What then? Only time will tell...
It is up to these cats to either help put these traitors in their place, or help them rise to power. Hopefully, they will not fail us.
